Awkward Schmawkward

I'm all about books, music & movies and never shut up about it. But I can't always put my thoughts into words which might make things a little awkward around here. But whatever. Awkward schmawkward.

Crash into You - Katie McGarry Even though the cover doesn't really match the other two I think I like it...and Isaiah looks pretty damn good :P
Never Fade - Alexandra Bracken There were parts I loved and parts I hated. What I hated most though is that I don't like Ruby as much anymore. :/
More later
Finding Cinderella - Colleen Hoover Come to mommy, little book, I've been waiting for you...*grabbyhands*

Point of Retreat (Slammed, #2)

Point of Retreat (Slammed, #2) - Colleen Hoover I enjoyed this just as much as Slammed.
The only reasons it's not quite a 5 star read for me is that the two main threads/issues of the story just felt a little too unrelated and random. Still, I loved this book and the characters. This little family really stole my heart.
Slammed - Colleen Hoover 4.5
What a beautiful, touching book. I loved Will and Kel and Eddie and the poetry and the book's take on family.
It was almost perfect - except for some of Lake's reactions when things got rough. She tended to react rather immature. But the rest of the book more than made up for that.

Agamemnon Frost and the Crown of Towers - Kim Knox 4.5
Loved it, my favorite in the series.

Agamemnon Frost and the Hollow Ships - Kim Knox This one was a little too chaotic for me. Sometimes it was hard to follow the story or the reasoning. However I still love the tension between Mason and Frost and hope that they both will be happy in the end.

Kiss An Angel

Kiss An Angel - Susan Elizabeth Phillips 3.5
I really liked the slow character/relationship developmet. No insta love here. I also loved the animals (Tater <3) and whole circus flair.<br/>However it took me forever to like the characters, they were so shallow/clicheed in the beginning. Also the ending was a little rushed and not quite as satisfying as it could have been.
All in all still a sweet read.

Made of Stars

Made of Stars - Kelley York Beautiful and utterly heartbreaking. I was hoping for more closure but the incredible characters and the rest of the story more than made up for that.

Countdown - Michelle Rowen 3.5 Sterne

Agamemnon Frost and the House of Death - Kim Knox More like 3.5 stars but extra points for freakiness...
The Bitter Kingdom - Rae Carson I can't believe it's over. It was the perfect ending to this beautiful series.

You Are Mine (Mine, #1)

You Are Mine (Mine, #1) - Janeal Falor 3.5

I would have seriously loved this book...if there only was more romance. I like that the tension between the MCs builds slowly and they have a few very sweet moments now and then. But they don't act on it until the very end and even then it's not entirely satisfying. As it was it often dragged a little for me. Also the heroine could be quite frustrating since she was pretty paranoid and the hero (whom I loved btw) had a very hard time earning her trust.
I do see where the author is coming from (after all, it is a story about a woman who wants to be free and that should not depend on a man) it just didn't really work for me. I'm still going to read the other books I think.

Smart, Sexy and Secretive

Smart, Sexy and Secretive - Tammy Falkner I enjoyed this book a lot for the most part. Even though it's still technically Logan and Emily's story we get to see plenty of the other brothers which is always a plus. I love every single member of that crazy caring family and can't get enough of them.
Logan and Emily have a lot of adjusting to do, now that they're both in school and in very different places on the social ladder and not everyone is as happy as the Reed family about their relationship once Emily returns to NYC. There was lots of drama (the good kind) and there was never a boring minute.
Like I said, I liked most of this book. However, there's one thing that seemed pretty unrealistic/cheesy to me: And that's the change in Emily's dad. The story starts out with him being very unhappy about Emily's plans to go to Juilliard. In his opinion she's not fit to go to school and with her dyslexia it's just a waste of time. She should get married (to someone who's worth her family's net worth of course) and basically be arm candy/a trophy wife for some rich asshole. Nothing has changed about his attitude towards Emily's wishes. And of course he hates Logan on sight and even goes so far as to bring Emily's ex boyfriend Trip to New York and make him her roommate. Trip is just as arrogant as Emily's father and it was easy to hate both of them. So far so good. I hated them but every story needs its villain and these two fit the bill perfectly. But then the author had to go and ruin it for me when Emily's father did a total 180 after hearing one of her songs. Admittedly, that songhas was about him and the way he treated his daughter throughout the years but it still felt very exxagerated and pretty cheesy. It even went so far that I thought for a while Emily was only dreaming. After that (and one other incident) he was a different man. Nice for Emily and Logan but not really believable.
Other than that it was a good read and I'm really looking forward to the other brothers' books.

Tall, Tatted and Tempting (The Reed Brothers, #1)

Tall, Tatted and Tempting (The Reed Brothers, #1) - Tammy Falkner 4.5
Such a sweet book. Emily is a great character and I just LOVE Logan. The only thing that bothered me a little were a few careless mistakes, such as Logan 'hearing' something or he said something that he should have signed (the author distinguishes sign language and speaking with normal print and cursive which is working out really well most of the time). Little things like that. Other than that it was a great book and I'll dive right into book 2 :)
